"I did $437K one year and took home $34K. That's when I learned the 3 numbers no one teaches you."

After 8 years and 500+ jobs solo, I had a year where I billed $437K. Want to guess what landed in my account after expenses, taxes, and overhead? $34K. I was working 70-hour weeks for less than a delivery driver. The problem wasn't the work or the prices — it was that I had no idea what my real overhead per billable hour was, or what my actual margin per quote looked like. JobPricer is the tool I built so no other contractor has to learn that lesson the hard way.

Tired of

  • ×Busy all year and broke at tax time
  • ×Underpricing because you forgot overhead, drive time, or markup
  • ×No idea whether this month is actually making you money
  • ×Finding out a job lost money after you finished it

You get

  • Overhead per billable hour baked into every quote
  • Real profit margin shown before you hit send
  • Take-home estimate after self-employment tax
  • Budget vs. actual margin per job

The 3-step "know your profit" method.

1

Enter your overhead once

Truck, insurance, tools, subs, software. JobPricer divides it by your billable hours so every quote already covers it.

2

Quote with margin shown live

Type a quote and see margin % update in real time. Too thin? Adjust the job — not your bank account 3 months later.

3

Watch take-home tick up monthly

Set an annual income goal. The dashboard tracks projected take-home after taxes so you always know where you stand.

Why solo contractors switch.

Built specifically for one- and two-person contractor businesses — not enterprise field-service teams.

1

Actual profit, not just revenue

Most tools track what you billed. JobPricer tracks what you kept — after overhead, materials, and taxes.

2

Overhead per hour, baked in

Most contractors guess at overhead and never bake it into a quote. JobPricer makes the math automatic.

3

Take-home after self-employment tax

What actually lands in your account — visible on the dashboard, not at year-end.

Before you sign up, a few questions.

How does JobPricer know my overhead?
You enter your monthly business costs once in Settings. JobPricer divides them across your billable hours and folds that into every quote automatically.
What's a good profit margin for a contractor?
Varies by trade, but many target a net margin of 10–20%+ after labor, overhead, and materials. The key is that profit is separate from your wage.
Is the take-home estimate accurate?
It's based on your reported income, your overhead, and a self-employment tax rate you set (25% is the default). Real tax depends on deductions, but the estimate is close enough to plan with.
Can I see margins across jobs over time?
Yes — the dashboard and analytics show margin trends, average margin by job type, and which jobs ran over budget.
Will it stop me from quoting unprofitable jobs?
JobPricer shows you the margin clearly so you can choose — it doesn't block low-margin quotes, but you'll never do them blind.
